I believe that the task of artists is be intermediaries between the world of fact and the world of image.  They assist the unmanifested image to emerge into the world.  By responding to the impulse of images, they have the opportunity to bring meaning to the larger questions of life and to themselves.

Answers come as artists subordinate themselves to the incoming vision. What is new and fresh supplies information to the attending artists so that they can respond—with all their skill—to the insistent demand coming through from the “other side” of the paper or canvas. Images like this can be so charged with their own essential patterns that they become powerful carriers of meaning to their viewers, inviting them to experience deep emotional insight into their own lives. 

I paint in watercolor and acrylics.   I want my art to contain and transmit meaning, the meaning that artists throughout our history have been charged with expressing.
